Main Street Los Gatos, CA 95030 ● 408-354-6832 <br /> <br />TOWN OF LOS GATOS <br />COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />MEETING DATE: 8/07/2018 <br />ITEM NO: 11 <br /> <br /> <br />DATE: AUGUST 1, 2018 <br />TO: MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL <br />FROM: LAUREL PREVETTI, TOWN MANAGER <br /> <br />SUBJECT: DISCUSS THE DYNAMICS OF THE SUMMER OF 2018 CUT THROUGH TRAFFIC <br />AND DIRECT STAFF TO CONTINUE THE CURRENT EFFORTS <br /> <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Discuss the dynamics of the Summer of 2018 cut through traffic and direct staff to continue the <br />current efforts. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br /> <br />On March 6, 2018, the Town Council discussed summer cut through traffic and provided <br />direction to forego implementation of the temporary roundabout closure at Wood Road <br />leading to Highway 17 and provided latitude for staff to close Almond Grove at Massol, Tait, <br />and Ridgecrest, and to implement neighborhood turn restriction signage as needed during the <br />course of the summer. <br /> <br />Cut through traffic causes significant impacts in the community and to date the Town Council <br />has engaged in a series of efforts to mitigate the effects. Provided below is a summary of <br />ongoing mitigation efforts: <br /> <br />Highway 9 Corridor Study – A draft corridor study should be complete for Council review later <br />in August. <br /> <br />South Santa Cruz Avenue at Wood Road Roundabout – The conceptual design for this project <br />has been submitted to Caltrans for preliminary review. Caltrans will provide guidance on <br />permitting of the project as it relates to Caltrans right of way. Guidance from Caltrans is <br />
