SUBJECT: TOWN CODE AMENDMENT APPLICATION A-15-005. PROJECT LOCATION:
TOWN WIDE. APPLICANT: TOWN OF LOS GATOS.
INTRODUCE AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
LOS GATOS AMENDING SECTION 29.10.150 OF CHAPTER 29 (ZONING
REGULATIONS) OF THE TOWN CODE REGARDING THE REQUIRED PARKING
REQUIREMENTS FOR RESTAURANTS.
REMARKS:
A question received from a Council Member is outlined below and followed by staff’s response.
How many more seats could be added under the Fire Code requirements?
Throughout the Town? In downtown?
It would not be possible for staff to calculate this number given that the State Fire Occupancy is
calculated on dining room square footage, and not the total square footage of the building. The
Town does not have the dining room square footage information for every restaurant. It is
estimated that most restaurants have the number of seats that work for their business and that
the Town would not realize a large fluctuation in actual seats added.
