SUBJECT: APPROVE A COMPREHENSIVE PERMIT PARKING PROGRAM FOR THE AREA
NORTHEASTERLY OF LOS GATOS HIGH SCHOOL:
1. Discontinue the Neighborhood Parking Plan process;
2. Maintain all existing residential permit parking regulations for Alpine,
Villa, Johnson, Jackson, New York, and Bella Vista Avenues, High School
Court, Cross Way, and the Los Gatos Boulevard Extension;
3. Expand the Whitney Avenue parking regulations to include additional
streets within a half-mile of Los Gatos High School (portions of Charles
Street, Los Gatos Boulevard, Stacia Street, Loma Alta Avenue, Johnson
Avenue, and Bella Vista Avenue north of Highway 9)
REMARKS:
After the release of the report, staff recognized that Attachment 4 did not entirely represent
existing parking regulations. Attachment 7 contains an updated map with a more accurate
depiction.
In addition, staff did further analysis of the proposed expansion of permit parking and
recommends that the Town Council approve the streets identified in an updated map
contained in Attachment 8. Please note that Attachment 8 shows the proposed street
segments by a single line. In most instances, this represents both sides of the street where red
curbs do not exist.
With the updated analysis, staff is now recommending that the Town Council approve a
comprehensive permit parking program for the area northeasterly of Los Gatos High School:
A. Discontinue the Neighborhood Parking Plan process;
B. Maintain all existing permit parking regulations for Alpine, Villa, Johnson, Jackson, New
York, and Bella Vista Avenues, High School Court, Cross Way, and the Los Gatos
Boulevard Extension;

C. Expand the parking regulations to include additional streets within a half -mile of Los
Gatos High School (portions of Charles Street, Wheeler Avenue, Los Gatos Boulevard,
Stacia Street, Loma Alta Avenue, Johnson Avenue, and Bella Vista north of Highway 9)
If the Council would like a more expansive review, discussion, analysis, and/or outreach, staff
will return through the budget process with an estimated cost and timeline consistent with
Council direction.
Attachment 9 contains public comment that was received between 11:01 a.m. yesterday and
11 a.m. today.
