My family has lived in Los Gatos their whole lives and Habitat as well as the town of Los Gatos made that possible. The home the town of Los Gatos helped us build allowed for a bond between the town and my famlly. All four of my children went on to graduate from LGHS, and persue college as well as their dreams. My children all had a house they got to grow up in and call their home. My family and lcannot thank Habitat and the Town of Los Gatos enough for our opportunity, and only hope others will be granted the same luck. Regards, Atobreha n Kelete 1 To the Town Council and Manager Regarding ltem #13 on the Feb, 6, 2018, Agenda: Review submitted Below Market Price (BMP) proposals for Dittos Lane and select a disposition option The Democracy Tent hosted a meeting Thursday, Feb. 1st, to hear and discuss the proposals from the developers for the Dittos Lane property. Three of the developers spoke. (Sarah Chaffin of Support Teachers, Gerald Scott of Forbes Mill, and Hamid Taeb of Habitat for Humanity.) Approximately 40 residents attended. Some issued raised were: . concerns about increased traffic . can housing favor one profession over another? . where affordable housing in town is being built . what other projects each developer has successfully created Further discussion ensued at the weekly Monday meeting on Feb. 5th. Out of the two meetings, some framing questions arose. . Several us have frustration over the lack of information and context for how the Town is dealing with our RHNA numbers and how each housing project (Dittos as well) is not considered in the larger picture. . Before the Town Council makes any decisions on the Dittos property, it is important for both the Town Council members and the community to get answers to the following questions, so that thoughtful solutions can be pursued. Please request (and supply) answers to the following before making a decision on Dittos. What factors are outside the Town's control that have to be dealt with in any development? How many affordable units have been built by specific points in time (use a range to give some sense of the challenge)? How will we attain the target by 2023? What are the realistic consequences if they are not built (since almost all the counties and cities have the same challenges as Los Gatos) Since Dittos Lane was bought with RDA money, what limitations exist and what are consequences if the Town is not in compliance? What easements are there on neighboring property and what are consequences if existing access to the property is not modified in any significant way? What does the Fire Department says is the maximum number of living structures that can be built and any limitations on number of people who can live in them? What is the time line for a required decision? What are the consequences for failure to resolve the Dittos property? What are the cost-benefit ratios for various proposals at Dittos? February 5, 2018 Dear Members of the Los Gatos Town Council, I would like to express my strong support of Sarah Chaffin and her teaching housing project. Her aspirations to make affordable teacher housing is something I wholeheartedly support. I am a resident of Los Gatos with two children in elementary school at Daves Avenue. Many of my daughter's teachers commute long distances to work at Daves Avenue. Her fourth grade teacher Ms. Clark drives from San Francisco daily, and her third grade teacher commutes from Scotts Valley. Another exceptional teacher left the school last year to be able to afford to buy a home, so the family purchased a home and moved to the Sacramento region. My daughter, Evie, is performing in the 4th and 5th grade play at Blossom Hill these next two weeks. Last week they did preview night performances for the teachers. Her teacher Ms. Clark came to watch the play preview night shows (5-9 pm) despite that it meant she would not be back home in SF until very late. I wish that commuting was less of burden on our teachers and that these after-school related activities were easy to attend. I cannot express enough how wonderful all ofthe Daves Avenue teachers have been and these are the women and men that you want to have as neighbors and see around town. I would love to see this project find its start here in Los Gatos and spread to other cities in the Bay Area. Sincerely, Heather lshak 129 Smith Ranch Ct. Los Gatos, CA 95032 1 Heather Ishak lr
