Attachment 5To; Los Gatos Planning Commission/ Town Council Subject: Story Pole Program Exception @16212 Los Gatos Blvd -Impact on Artisan Wine Depot & Community We are a locally owned/ family run business -Artisan Wine Depot Los Gatos -at 16212 Los Gatos Blvd. We are the sole operator on the property. One of the major advantages of Artisan Wine Depot is the ease of access and quantity and convenience of parking available at our location. We leverage it for the good of our business and the community as follows: 1. Customers regularly provide feedback directly to us, on social media, etc. how good our 60 spot parking lot is and that it is the reason they come to our shop and refer others to it. Customers compare it to the downtown area parking situation and say it is the reason they come to the Los Gatos Blvd location to shop. 2. We support the local community by providing drop off /pickup parking for multiple local schools right at peak congestion times. Without fail twice a day our lot is filled with hundreds of parents and school children. Parents fill every space and wait with other siblings for the children to come from school. If the parking is blocked, all these people and cars would be overflowing onto the street every day in a lingering line on LG Blvd exacerbating an already completely clogged situation. We are very afraid of the presence of story polls on our lot as they present a dangerous situation for the large number of children and parents lingering in our lot and walk across our sidewalks and parking lot on their way to school. 3. Yoga Source is a major partner of ours and we provide much-needed -40 parking spaces for their many hourly sessions spread across each day. These cars would then be forced out onto LG Blvd or into the already over crowded parking lots at Blossom Hill road. Scott Plautz has worked closely with Artisan Wine Depot over a 4 year period while developing plans for the property to in sure that: 1. Community is best served by the operation of the property during the development time. 2. City see recurring revenue 3. AWD's business is successful & provides a treasured community service as evidenced by our almost 5,000 customers developed over time. The presence of unsightly story polls and blocking access to parking would completely damage our business and cutting significantly into the tax revenue we generate. A previous story pole program at the site reduced our business by over -60%1 for the full time of setup/execution/t~ardown of the program. Negative results persisted for months after the setup due to confusion in the market of our status. Having such a high traffic/ centralized position means that people will RECEIVED the story poles immediately upon erection, so 10 days or less is plenty of time for JAN 1 5 2018 TOWN OF LOS GATOS PLANNING DIVISION ATTACHMENT 5 the community to weigh in. As our customers tell us all the time "I pass you several times at day'. In addition to the damage to our business, lack of parking on the lot would significantly damage local traffic flow as our parking lot provides parking for many local schools and businesses. By leaving the back portion of the property and our business open during the Story Pole Setup it will reduce overall congestion in the area. Sincerely, Joseph Prang/ Christine Tran Artisan Wine Depot Los Gatos • l !' ~#".
