Apparently there is widespread support for public maintenance but there is not universal agreement regarding the standards for improvement. As you may recall the property owners from the 200 block of Wilder, Tait, and Massol (Alleys 4, 6, and 9 as described on the enclosure ) universally support base improvements and public maintenance. ( only one owner was missing from the petition because he /she could not be reached) Base improvements include a pavement section sufficient to support garbage trucks and fire engines, drainage, and a mechanism to allow residents to enter into private contracts with the Town's paving contractor to expand pavement outside of the public right of way to connect the alley with adjacent garage openings. Apparently some residents want more extensive improvements. We don't expect the Town to install expensive concrete curbs or swales. Just a hard surface that drains. Please separate out those residents that want to proceed quickly with a base improvement plan from those want to explore more exotic design solutions. Our group gladly volunteers to be the first group to meet with the staff to discuss the improvement process. Our goal is to improve the alleys this summer to avoid another year of flooding which occurs after each heavy rain. Thank you for your continued support of this project. file://C:\ Documents% 20and% 20Settings \user\Local %20Settings \Temp \GW)00013.HTM 3/4/2002
