Main Street Los Gatos, CA 95030 ● 408-354-6832 www.losgatosca.gov TOWN OF LOS GATOS PARKS COMMISSION REPORT DRAFT MINUTES OF THE PARKS COMMISSION MEETING APRIL 3, 2017 The Parks Commission of the Town of Los Gatos conducted a Regular Meeting on April 3, 2017, at 6:00 p.m. MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AT 6:00 p.m. ROLL CALL Present: Chair Scott, Vice Chair Tavana, Commissioners Buncic, Clemm, Corenson, and Deloumi. Absent: Commissioners Gordon and Zepecki. PUBLIC HEARING 5. Tree Removal Permit Appeal – Winchester Avenue frontage adjacent to 17274 Verdes Robles, Los Gatos. Applicant: PG&E / Appellant: Vivek Correia Mr. Morley, Parks and Public Works Director, presented the staff report. Opened Public Comment. Vivek Correia, Appellant and property owner of 17274 V erdes Robles - Commented on the appeal of the tree removal application. Chris Pachan PG&E (Applicant) representative - Commented on the tree removal application and the process. Melissa Gramstad - Commented in opposition of removing the trees. Closed Public Comment. Parks Commission discussed the matter. Rob Schultz, Town Attorney, provided clarification on the appeal process. Motion failed for lack of a second. MOTION: Motion by Commissioner Corenson to deny the appeal and uphold the Town’s tree removal permit for trees in the public right of way on Winchester Boulevard adjacent to 17274 Verdes Robles based on the finding that the trees are “interfering with utility services where such interference cannot be controlled or remedied through reasonable modification, relocation or repair of the utility service or the pruning of the root or branch structure of the tree; or where removal or pruning is required by a public utility to comply with California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) or Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) rules or regulations.”. Seconded by Commissioner Buncic. VOTE: Motion passed 5/1. Commissioner Deloumi voting no. Commissioners Gordon and Zepecki absent.
