I'm relatively a newbie when it comes to understanding all of our guidelines and architectural
styles. However, over the last two+ years attended Planning Commission meetings I have had a
significant number of situations where I totally disagreed with the Cannon architect's opinion.
Many of my issues with his overriding acceptance of pretty much everything is obviously shared
by some of the Commissioners who voice a large number of my same issues. Therefore I know I
am learning from the best.
I'm not talking about style - everyone has different opinions.
The primary issue is compatibility. Applicants refer to his opinions as if they overrule any points
raised by the Commission. I can't think, off-hand, of a single case where it didn't seem like he
had completely ignored the concept of compatibility. Change is hard to accept sometimes. But, I
feel that respecting the nature, size and vision of the surrounding neighborhood is critical to
preserving our special "sanctuary" from the urban sprawl.
I'm also curious to know who all received the RFP to know how/why the Town only received
one response.
