MUSEUM ROOF IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize the Town Manager to execute a Certificate of Acceptance and Notice of Completion
(Attachment 1) accepting the work of California Roofing Company, Inc. and authorize recording
by the Clerk Administrator for PPW Job Number 16-821-2109 Civic Center Museum Roof
Improvements Project.
BACKGROUND:
The Town’s adopted FY 2016/17-2020/21 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Budget
designated funding for the Town’s Civic Center Museum Roof Improvements Project to replace
the roof membrane covering the bookstore and the museum wing of the Civic Center. The
existing roof over this section of the Civic Center was at least 25 years old, had reached the end
of its serviceable life, and had experienced several leaks over the past two rainy seasons,
furthering the need for a new roof.
On October 4, 2016, the Town Council authorized the Town Manager to award and execute a
construction agreement with California Roofing Company, Inc. an amount of $59,019, plus a
fifteen percent contingency, for a total amount not to exceed $67,872.

DISCUSSION:
California Roofing Company, Inc. has satisfactorily completed all of the work for this project and
staff recommends project acceptance.
Five percent of the faithful performance bond will remain in effect for a per iod of two years as
guarantee for any needed repair or replacement caused by defective materials and
workmanship. The execution and recordation of the Certificate of Acceptance is now necessary
to finalize the Town's acceptance of the project.
CONCLUSION:
Staff recommends that the Town Council authorize the Town Manager to execute a Certificate
of Acceptance and Notice of Completion accepting the work of California Roofing Company, Inc.
and authorize recording by the Clerk Administrator for PPW Job No. 16-821-2109 Civic Center
Museum Roof Improvements.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The final project cost was $67,264, of which $67,264 were direct construction costs paid to
California Roofing Company, Inc. Funds not utilized for this project will revert back to the GFAR
for re-appropriation by the Council during the budget process.
