RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
CONSENTING TO INCLUSION OF THE TERRITORY OF THE TOWN
IN THE FORMATION OF THE COUNTY SERVICE AREA
TO BE ESTABLISHED FOR THE PROVISION OF ANIMAL CONTROL
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of Santa Clara County is preparing an application to the
Local Agency Formation Commission for the creation of a County Service Area for Animal Control Services;
and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors has requested each City Council to adopt a resolution
of consent for inclusion of its territory in the formation of the County Service Area pursuant to Section
25210.10(a) of the Government Code; and
WHEREAS, this Town Council finds that the public health, safety and welfare of its constituency
will be promoted by participating in the proposed County Service Area; and
WHEREAS, this new organization be the central clearing house for ALL animal calls received,
that they will provide answers or a referral service for any questions concerning animals.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Town Council approves and consents to the
inclusion of all of the incorporated territory of the Town in the formation of the County Service Area to be
established in the provision of enhanced animal control services and the eventual construction of an animal
shelter; and directs the Town Clerk to file certified copies of this resolution with the Clerk of the Board of
Supervisors and with the County Executive of the County of Santa Clara.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos,
California, held on the 7th day of October, 1991 by the following vote:

Dear Chairperson McKenna:
Enclosed is the resolution adopted by the Town of Los Gatos on October 7, 1991.
This resolution gives the Town's consent for inclusion in a County animal control
service area. The Town recognizes the importance of enhanced and improved
animal control services and is willing to participate with the County and other
communities to provide these services.
As you will note in the resolution, the Town Council strongly requests that the
County establish one telephone number for citizen calls regarding wild and /or
domestic animal concerns. This number is an important step in reducing the "ping
pong" affect citizens often experience when they call animal control to report a wild
or domestic animal problem. The Town Council also strongly recommends that the
County establish an Oversight Committee for the animal control service area. This
committee should be composed of representatives from each of the participating
communities, and would provide ongoing community participation in the operation
of the service area. This Oversight Committee would be especially important in the
formative stages of the service area.
