A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
RECOGNIZING "AVOID THE THIRTEEN' AS A HOLIDAY LAW ENFORCEMENT
CAMPAIGN AGAINST DRINKING DRIVERS IN SANTA CLARA COUNTY
WHEREAS, in 1990, 2,126 persons died on California roadways in accidents related
to drugs and alcohol and 39,246 persons were injured, and
WHEREAS, in 1990, 61 people were killed in accidents related to drugs or alcohol
in Santa Clara County and 1,732 persons were injured, and
WHEREAS, Avoid the Thirteen is an 18 year holiday tradition in Santa Clara County
for which all police agencies in the County join forces to crack down on the drinking driver
and
WHEREAS, the campaign has proven successful in increasing arrests and reducing
alcohol related accidents that injure and kill people through a combination of strict, quick
enforcement, community help, and public education.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Los
Gatos that the Town of Los Gatos hereby proclaims December 13, 1991 to January 1, 1992
as the Avoid the Thirteen campaign period.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town
of Los Gatos, California, held on the 4th day of November, 1991, by the following vote:
