RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
WITH REGARD TO LOS GATOS FUNDS
AND THE SURFACE TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM (STP) /CONGESTION MITIGATION
FOR THE WIDENING OF LOS GATOS BOULEVARD
FROM TWO TO FOUR LANES FROM SAMARITAN DRIVE TO LARK AVENUE
WHEREAS, the Town of Los Gatos has applied and been recommended for $400,000
in Surface Transportation Program funding for the widening of Los Gatos Boulevard from
Samaritan Drive to Lark Avenue from the current two lane paved roadway to a four lane
paved roadway within a 50 -foot right -of -way; and
WHEREAS, this project will relieve traffic congestion and generally facilitate traffic
flow by widening the only remaining two lane portion between already completed six lane
portions on either side, and is the first phase of an eventual six lane project at this location;
and
WHEREAS, a prerequisite for inclusion in the 1993 Transportation Improvement
program (TIP) is the adoption of a local resolution saying that:
■ The project will be built as described above; and
■ Twenty (20 %) percent of total project costs in local matching funds up to $100,000
will be provided by the Town of Los Gatos;
■ The Town of Los Gatos understands that the STP funding is fixed at $400,000, and
therefore, any cost increases cannot be expected to be funded with STP funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Town Council of the Town of Los
Gatos by adopting this resolution of intent does hereby state that (subject to the adoption
of a budget for the project by the Town Council) that:
■ The project will be built as described above; and
■ Twenty (20 %) percent of total project costs in local matching funds up to $100,000
will be provided by the Town of Los Gatos;
■ The Town of Los Gatos understands that the STP funding is fixed at $400,000 and
therefore, any cost increases cannot be expected to be funded with STP funds.
