A RESOLUTION COMMENDING BRENT N. VENTURA
FOR HIS SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE
TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
WHEREAS, Brent was elected to the Town Council on April 21, 1980 and served
three elected terms until December 7, 1992; and
WHEREAS, Brent served as a member of the Planning Commission from June 19,
1978 to his appointment to the Town Council; and
WHEREAS, Brent has devoted countless hours of personal dedication to ensure that
the Town's government has delivered responsive, quality services to the community; and,
WHEREAS, during his tenure Brent assisted the Town in the following major studies
and projects:
a. Negotiations Leading to the Route 85 freeway agreements
b. Historic preservation and the creation of the Historic Preservation Committee
c. Open space preservation
d. Tree preservation and reforestation of the Town
e. Adoption of the Downtown Specific Plan
f. Adoption of the General Plan
g. Development of the earthquake recovery program
h. Commercial Specific Plan Committee
i. Instrumental in saving Maria's Berry Farm
j. Downtown Parking Program
k. Villa Vasona and Open Doors Housing Developments
WHEREAS, Brent has proven a quick - thinking Council member, unflagging in his
energy, responsive to and feeling responsible for his constituency, conscientious and
devoted; and,
WHEREAS, his passionate midnight pleas for historic preservation, for trees, and for
other causes in which he believed have often put things in perspective for a weary Council;
and,
WHEREAS, his humor, irreverence, and penchant for the truly tasteless jokes and
puns have galvanized the Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Los Gatos Town Council does
hereby commend and thank Brent Ventura for his unusual combination of the idealisms of
Youth and the vision of a statesman. Brent has served Los Gatos and helped its citizens
virtually all his adult life. He deserves our abiding thanks and respect.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos at a
regular meeting held this 16th day of November, 1992, by the following vote:
