A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO SUBMIT A PROPOSAL TO THE
OFFICE OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLANNING
FOR A SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER PROGRAM GRANT
WHEREAS, The Town of Los Gatos desires to undertake a certain project
designated The Los Gatos School Resource Officer Program to be funded in part from
funds made available through the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974
(PL 93 -415) Program administered by the Office of Criminal Justice Planning (hereafter
referred to as OJCP), and
WHEREAS, this program fills a void in the criminal justice and education systems,
and
WHEREAS, the concept of the School Resource Officer Program is to provide the
curriculum and training to the Los Gatos schools to work as partners with the Police
Department in the prevention of juvenile crime;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Los
Gatos that Town Manager of the Town of Los Gatos is authorized, on its behalf to submit
the attached proposal to OCJP and is authorized to execute on behalf of The Town Council
of The Town of Los Gatos the attached Grant Award Agreement including any extensions
or amendments thereof.
IT IS AGREED that any liability arising out of the performance of this Grant Award
Agreement, including civil court actions for damages, shall be the responsibility of the grant
recipient and the authorizing agency. The State of California and OCJP disclaim
responsibility for any such liability.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that grant funds received hereunder shall not be
used to supplant expenditures controlled by this body.
IT IS ALSO AGREED that this award is not subject to local hiring freezes.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town
of Los Gatos, California, held on the 16th day of November, 1992, by the following vote:
