1993-063-Requesting Voluntary Water Conservation Practices And Commending The Citizens Of Los GatosRESOLUTION 1993 -63 A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS REQUESTING VOLUNTARY WATER CONSERVATION PRACTICES AND COMMENDING THE CITIZENS OF LOS GATOS WHEREAS, the 1993 water supply available to Santa Clara County markedly exceeds that of the previous six years of drought; and WHEREAS, since 1989 the citizens of Santa Clara County have responded admirably to the mandatory water conservation programs requested and implemented by the Santa Clara Valley Water District; and WHEREAS, with continued good conservation practices, implementation of ultra low flush toilet rebate and other plumbing retrofit programs, further development and refinement of the water efficient landscaping ordinances, landscape guidelines, reclamation projects, and other best management practices, 1993 countywide conservation efforts are anticipated to result in a 10 percent to 20 percent reduction in water usage as compared to 1987 usage; therefore BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Council hereby requests its water users to practice voluntary efficient water use and to continue to avoid water waste during 1993 and the foreseeable future and commends the citizens of Los Gatos for their efforts during the past six years to reduce water use; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that to minimize water waste, the Town Council adopts the attached permanent potable water use restrictions. PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos, California, held on May 3, 1993 by the following vote. Water waste, including but not limited to flooding or runoff on sidewalks, streets, or gutters. 2. Use of water through a hose for cleaning of sidewalks, driveways, patios, parking lots, or other paved or hard surface areas, and for washing cars, buses, boats, trailers, or other vehicles without a positive automatic shutoff valve on the outlet end of the hose. 3. Water waste due to broken or defective plumbing, sprinkler, watering, or irrigation systems. 4. Restaurant water service unless upon request. 5. No new single -pass cooling systems.
