1994-065 - Approving destruction of dispatch tapes of the LG/MS Police Department after a period of one yearRESOLUTION NO. 1994 - 65 RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS APPROVING DESTRUCTION OF DISPATCH TAPES OF THE LOS GATOS POLICE DEPARTMENT AFTER A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR PURSUANT TO GOVERNMENT CODE § 34090.6 WHEREAS: A. The California Government Code allows the Town to destroy dispatch tapes of the Los Gatos Police Department after only 100 days; and B. It is in the Town's best interest to preserve those dispatch tapes for at least one year. RESOLVED: 1. The Chief of Police and personnel duly authorized by the Chief are hereby authorized to destroy dispatch tapes of the Los Gatos Police Department after one year has passed following the recording of the tapes. This destruction may be by either physical destruction or taping over the tapes as determined to be most efficient by the Chief. 2. Before destroying a tape pursuant to this resolution, the Chief shall obtain the written approval of the Town Attorney of this policy. PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos, California, held on the 16th day of May, 1994 by the following vote.
