RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
ESTABLISHING STANDARD CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL FOR CONDITIONAL
USE PERMITS GRANTED FOR DRY CLEANING PLANTS.
WHEREAS, the Town Council has amended the Town Code to permit dry cleaning
plants to operate in commercial zones.
WHEREAS, there was a recognized need to assure that there would be no
environmental impacts of placing dry clean plants within the Town.
WHEREAS, the Council wants to insure that only dry cleaning machinery containing
adequate safeguards against accidental solvent spills and geared to recycling and other
methods of pollution control would be permitted to operate in Town limits.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF LOS GATOS,
That the following standard conditions of approval will be applied as applicable:
(1) All dry cleaning equipment must conform to the Uniform Fire Code
specifications pertaining to dry cleaning.
(2) All dry cleaning equipment must contain adequate equipment to mitigate or
eliminate the dispersement of dry cleaning fluid upon the ground air and
sewage.
(3) Dry cleaning equipment must incorporate protective measures against a
solvent spill.
(4) All dry cleaning equipment must have a solvent catch basin located
underneath all units containing solvents and must have catch basins located
underneath all pipes and hoses used for the transferring of solvents.
(5) The conditional use permit shall be subject to annual reviews by the Planning
Department. If the proposed equipment and /or the operation of the
equipment proves to be a nuisance via noise, smell, or unsightliness, the
permit will be subject to reevaluation by the Planning Commission.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of
Los Gatos, California, held on the 5th day of December, 1994 by the following vote:
