After the staff report was distributed on January 28, 2016, staff received the following question from a
Council Member:
Do the proposed additional lanes for Highway 85 end at Highway 280?
Yes. The Express Lanes project runs along Highway 85 from Highway 101 in south San Jose to
Highway 101 in Mountain View. The project identifies adding a lane in the section of Highway 85 from
Highway 87 to Highway 280. When combined with the existing carpool lane, this will equal two
Express Lanes in this corridor. The balance of the project converts the existing carpool lanes to Express
Lanes without adding additional lanes.
