RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
UPDATING THE HOUSING ELEMENT
OF THE LOS GATOS GENERAL PLAN BY ADOPTING
GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT GP -97 -01 AND
REPEALING RESOLUTION 1991 -75.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 65355, the Town Council
conducted a public hearing for consideration of an update to the Housing Element of the Los Gatos
General Plan, on June 2, 1997; and
WHEREAS, during this hearing, the Town Council considered General Plan
Amendment GP -97 -1 for the Housing Element Update; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission recommended adoption on April 23, 1997 by
a vote of six in favor and one absent; and
WHEREAS, the Town has in good faith worked with the State Department of Housing
and Community Development in addressing their concerns to comply with Government Code
Section 65580 et seq; and
WHEREAS, on March 7, 1997 the State found that the Los Gatos Housing Element
will be in full compliance with the requirements of the Government Code Section 65580 et seq.
once it is adopted; and
WHEREAS, the State commended Los Gatos for the effort it has made to revise the
Housing Element to address both the specific requirements and spirit of the law.
RESOLVED, that the Town Council adopts the Housing Element, which is attached
hereto marked Exhibit A, as part of the Los Gatos General Plan (General Plan Amendment G -97-
1) and rescinds Town Council Resolution 1991 -175.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town Council finds that the amendment will not
have a significant environmental impact and makes the Negative Declaration and also finds that

an Environmental Impact Report was previously prepared for the General Plan when adopted that
it is applicable to the proposed amendment since it does not cause any changes which would have
a significant impact on the environment.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town Council finds that the Housing Element
Update is internally consistent with the various elements of the General Plan.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council held on June
2, 1997 by the following vote:
