RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
PROCLAIMING OCTOBER, 1998 AS THE MONTH OF
"LOS GATOS PUBLIC LIBRARY CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION"
WHEREAS, the Los Gatos Public Library was founded in 1898 and has for one
hundred years been a place for the pursuit of knowledge, understanding, information, pleasure and
enlightenment for the citizens of the Town of Los Gatos, and
WHEREAS, the mission of the Los Gatos Public Library is to provide materials and
services to meet the personal, educational, and informational needs of community residents of all
ages, and
WHEREAS, the Friends of Los Gatos Public Library have dedicated the month of
October, 1998 as a time of celebration and commemoration of the Library's role in aiding Los
Gatans in achieving intellectual excellence and personal well - being, and
WHEREAS, the Friends have planned multiple events and programs for the public
in October, 1998 to celebrate the Library's one hundredth birthday, and
WHEREAS, the celebration events will highlight the Library's role in the Town's
history, its growth, and its role in providing information through new technology,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, 1, Linda Lubeck, by the virtue of the
authority vested in me as Mayor of the Town of Los Gatos, do deem it appropriate and do hereby
proclaim October, 1998 as the month of "Los Gatos Public Library Centennial Celebration," and
urge all to participate by:
- attending the Friends of the Library centennial events and programs;
- visiting the Library and becoming more aware of the resources and services; and
- supporting the Library through volunteerism, joining the Friends of the Library,
and donations.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of
Los Gatos, California on the 3rd of August, 1998 by the following vote:
