AMENDMENTS.
INTRODUCE ORDINANCE ADOPTING AMENDMENTS TO SECTION
29.10.09025 OF CHAPTER 29 (ZONING REGULATIONS — HOME
OCCUPATIONS) OF THE TOWN CODE TO INCLUDE COTTAGE FOOD
INDUSTRY BUSINESSES AND ADDITIONAL PROHIBITED HOME
OCCUPATION USES.

After the distribution of the Town Council packet, staff received two questions from a
Council Member.
What will be allowed in neighborhoods (as opposed to within home) that is not allowed
now?
This Ordinance only applies to home businesses that are within a home and will not change
the character of the neighborhood or allow any additional uses in the neighborhoods. The
Ordinance only allows and recognizes the Cottage Food industry as a home occupation
within a home.
What, if anything, prohibits "cottage cooking" now?
The current Ordinance does not expressly prohibit Cottage Food operators; however, AB
1616 requires local jurisdictions to establish appropriate zoning and permitting requirements
for Cottage Food production. This Ordinance implements the requirements of AB 1616.
