SUBJECT: APPROVE RESPONSE TO THE SANTA CLARA CIVIL GRAND JURY REPORT
REGARDING LAW ENFORCEMENT POLICIES AND PROCEDURES RELATED
TO CALIFORNIA PENAL CODE 368 PERTAINING TO THE REPORTING OF
ELDER AND /OR DEPENDENT ADULT ABUSE
REMARKS:
After the Staff Report was distributed on July 23, 201, Staff received the following inquiry from
Council which is addressed below:
Why is the Town's implementation qualified with the phrase, "in a manner appropriate ?"
Answer: We stated "manner appropriate" because the recommendation is for the Chief to support
stronger legislation, which may be a challenging position to take. The Council could modify our
response if it so chooses.
