Subject: SAVE BACHMAN PARKNPH
June 15, 2015
Dear Vice -Mayor Spector,
We are writing in regards to the watering of Bachman Park, a neighborhood meeting place. We
have lived directly across from this park at 225 Belmont Avenue for well over 30 years. This
park was established in the 70's by the surrounding neighbors and the playground at that time
was even featured on the cover of Sunset magazine. The Town of Los Gatos through the years
has always notified the neighbors and asked for our input on big decisions. When money, labor
or supplies have been an issue the neighbors have always pitched in to keep it a wonderful
place to visit.
We do not understand why the town has gone to such an extreme watering schedule with
complete disregard to the neighborhood and residences. The weather this spring has been mild
and already the park is 75% yellow and the heat of summer is still to come. There are also
sections of the park where the water has been turned off, directly affecting adjacent neighbors.
There is no doubt that California is heading towards one of the worse droughts on record and
that sacrifices must be made. Homeowners that rely on San Jose Water must meet the
required restrictions. Many have to give up their, green lawns, vegetable gardens, flower beds
and water features. The town not held to the same restrictions or penalties, and who has
already reduced Bachman Park's water usage 25% in 2014 should continue to water the entire
park at last years levels. As an elected town leader we ask that you please be mindful of the
benefits in providing beautiful areas for the town residences to enjoy during this trying
period. The town square and community center do not provide a bbq picnic and recreational
space for the gathering of family and friends.
We ask that you please reconsider the proposals by Sara Walker. On our behalf, she is asking
many questions, has researched watering alternatives and has many suggests on how the park
can retain is beauty. We support her campaign to "Save Bachman Park ".
Thank you for your consideration. It is our hope that this can be resolved quickly before the
park is unable to recover. If we can be of any help do not hesitate to call.
Best regards,
Mary ,g dreg

Subject: Bachman Park
Please restore water to Bachman Park to at least Zone 2 level two times a week. Keep the grass from
dying- it's not necessary and will cause the town a lot of expense at some point.
We believe that the Council should repeal the Urgency Ordinance. There was no public hearing or input.
Thanks so much. We are William and Sally Reagan at 209 Belmont Ave.

Subject: Bachman park water
I have been contacted by a neighbor on the Los Gatos Main email list to "save Bachman Park." I am
Unable to attend the council Meeting on June 16 but I would like to add my input. I would like to
support the Council's earlier decision NOT to water our city parks - -any city parks -- during this extreme
drought, including Bachman Park. Brown grass is the least of the sacrifices we can make to ensure that
we have water for drinking, showering and other essential human needs. I also believe that use of
recycled water should not go to watering parks and lawns but for watering gardens and other uses that
support human survival.
I would also like to know why LGHS still has a very green lawn -- likely still being watered. Many of us are
doing our part to conserve and LGHS should be part of this effort. I support discontinuing watering this
lawn as well.
Brown is the new green! Thank you.
Sincerely
Meredith Walley
