Description of Proposed Use and Activities: The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people
to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. To prepare
every eligibile youth in American to become a responsible, participating citizen and leader who is guided by the Scout Oath and
Law.
Days /Hours of Operation: Nights after 5:00 PM and Weekends after 8:00 AM
Number of Daily Staff/Volunteers: All Adult Volunteers Five to six adults present at all Scoutng
events.
Number of Daily Visitors: Scheduled_caft2tin s Venturing Crew on Mondays. Boy Scouts on
Tuesdays. Other miscellaneous meetings occur at least one other night a week
The Venue has only two dedicated parking spaces. Based upon your proposal, how
does your organization plan to mitigate traffic impacts?
Meetings are in the evening and weekends. Rarely a parking problem.

When would your organization be ready to occupy the space? As soon as available
Describe your target demographic and how you plan to market to this group:
Boy Scouts is for Boys 11 to 18 years of age. Troop 2 Is located in Los Gatos since 1918 and
is the oldest Troop in Santa Clara County: one of the oldest Troops in the United States.
Troop 2 is a well known troop in demand and no marketing is necessary.
Venturing Crew is a program for Boys and Girls age 14 to 21. Boys transition to Venturing
from Boy Scouts and girls join for exciting outdoor adventures.
How does your proposal utilize the building's close proximity to the LGHS campus and
neighboring youth facilities?
It's close for member access. It's next door to our existing meeting place.

VENUE RE -USE GUIDING PRINCIPLES
The re -use of the former Venue space provides an exciting opportunity for local businesses or
organizations to engage with and support the youth of Los Gatos. These Guiding Principles
provide a framework for considering the many options for deciding on the best use of this unique
community asset.
Guiding Principles
I . The re -use of the former Venue should benefit the youth of Los Gatos by addressing the
needs identified in the Teen Needs Survey (survey attached).

2. The re -use of the former Venue should uphold the guiding principles of the Youth
Friendly Business Program by creating a positive atmosphere, providing excellent
customer service for youth, and supporting youth in the community.

3. Remodeling of the space will be done in such a manner as to:
a. Meet ADA access requirements No major renovation. No changes needed.
b. Avoid imposition of higher building standards - Only anaticipate deferred maintenance.
c. Minimize potential environmental impacts Scouting is enviromentally conscious.
d. Minimize the operational and maintenance costs to the Town None anticipated
e. Eliminate any existing safety hazard None Known
f Meet Town parking requirements Troop use is mostly evenings and parking is not a problem.
g. Incorporate green building practices as feasible No needs anticipated
4. Community collaborations and partnerships shall be explored.
Some of our Scouts are members of the Los Gatos Community Emergency Response Team
5. Creative ways to use the space for multiple purposes shall be encouraged.
The Boy Scouts of America was incorporated February 8, 1910.
June 16, 1916 Boy Scouts of America was chartered by the United States
Congress.
April 1918 Troop 2 in Los Gatos was chartered by the Boy Scouts of America.
In 1924 The Rotary Club of Los Gatos was authorized by the Boy Scouts of
America to be the Chartering Organization for Troop 2 and to this day Troop 2 is
still part of the Rotary family. Troop 2 is the oldest Boy Scout Troop in Santa
Clara County. A valuable asset to the Los Gatos Community.

instill values in young people and, in other ways, to prepare them to make ethical
choices during their lifetime. Values found in the Scout Oath and Law.
The Boy Scout programs have helped to build courage, confidence, and
character. Scouting is the most prominent value -based youth development
organization in America. The programs Scouts are engaged in provide them the
opportunity to learn about citizenship, build character, take on responsibility,
expand their horizons, develop personal fitness and have fun with their peers.
Scouting is building a more conscientious, productive and responsible society.
Troop 2 and Venture 2 has delivered more community service projects in Los
Gatos than any other organization. Driving, walking, or bicycling everywhere Los
Gatos there is a Community Service Project or Eagle Project somewhere close
by.
The Boy Scouts of America partnered with The Rotary Club of Los Gatos has a
proven success in Troop 2 and Venture 2 with a current membership of 70. The
available use the building located 4 New York Avenue referred to as the Teen
Center or Venue would provide the space for Troop 2/Venture 2 to offer the
program to more Youth in Los Gatos and not turn anyone away.
