SUBJECT: APPOINTMENTS TO BOARDS, COMMISSIONS, AND COMMITTEES
REMARKS:
To correct a typographical error on Attachment I of the Boards /Commission/Committee
Interviews and Appointments staff report, under the Arts and Culture Commission, the text
number of applicants should be "five."
The Town Council Policy on Commission Appointments requires incumbents to submit a letter
prior to the interviews explaining why they cannot attend and why they should be reappointed to
the respective Commission. The Clerk Administrator has received emails from two incumbents on
the Community and Senior Services Commission who are unable to attend the interviews (see
Attachments 3 and 4).
The Clerk Administrator has received two application withdrawals, incumbent Rita Baum from
the Library Board and applicant Nicole Jhonson for the Historic Preservation Committee (see
Attachments 5 and 6).
The Clerk Administrator has received notice from two applicants for the Transportation and
Parking Commission that they are unable to attend the interviews, John Aadland who will be
traveling out of the area for the holidays and Rick Tinsley who has a family emergency out of
state. These two applications will be held up to one year for future vacancies and possible
interviews and appointment.

I have served for the past two years on the community and senior services commission and would like to continue on
this commission, however, I will not be able to attend the meeting on December 16`h.
I am very committed to the community and senior needs and currently serve as the vice chair of the community and
senior services commission. We have made great strides with the needs assessment for seniors and I would like to
continue taking this through to the city council next year. In working with El Camino Hospital we are interested in
reaching out to cities and their senior centers to see where we can help and I work very closely with the CEO to provide
insight. Thank you for your consideration.

Thank you. I am writing today because I have an unavoidable conflict with the scheduled CSSC interview date
on Tuesday, December 16a . Our company's annual board meeting is being held in Southern California on that
date. Unfortunately, the timing cannot be changed since Tuesday the 16a' is the only opportunity to synchronize
the schedules of our company's various board members and our executive team in December.
I understand that you would consider a written notice coupled with a brief statement for existing commission
members who are seeking an additional term. I have served on the CSSC for the past two years and have
thoroughly enjoyed this service to the Los Gatos community. Our current commission has a great rapport and
we've been able to make substantial headway on a number of initiatives launched in the past two years.
Recently, I had the pleasure to present to our town manager, on behalf of the commission, our needs assessment
findings and recommendations for senior services in Los Gatos based on a survey of local stakeholders. We
shared a number of initiatives, both short-term and long -term, that could truly make an impact on our
community's older adults. I would very much like to see that process through and continue to work with the
commission in the coming years. I hope you will consider the work that I've engaged in during my past two
terms, and the projects that are already underway so that I may be granted an additional term on the CSSC.

Good news regarding two library board applicants. So glad for the community interest in our library.
As I replied to the original email notice regarding openings on the Town Library Board, I would submit my
application if there were no new applicants by a specific date. Now past that date there are two applicants and I
would like to withdraw my application to serve on the Town Library Board.
Will this email notice of withdrawal of application suffice or must I submit a separate email or hard copy to the
Town Clerk?
It has been a privilege to serve with current board members: Lyn Dougherty, Kitty KIng, Tom Atkinson,
Shelley Katz, and Town LIbrary Directors Heidi and Henry. I will continue to support our library in other ways.
