SUBJECT: CONSIDER REOUESTS FROM THE VETERANS MEMORIAL AND SUPPORT
FOUNDATION OF LOS GATOS:
A. APPROVE THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE VETERANS FOUNDATION OF
LOS GATOS' DESIRED DESIGN FOR A "TRIBUTE TO FREEDOM"
VETERANS MEMORIAL AT THE CIVIC CENTER. THIS WOULD
INCLUDE THE UPPER DECK AREA AS WELL AS A WALKWAY FROM
MAIN STREET TO THE CIVIC CENTER DECK.
B. A $20,000 GRANT TO PROCEED FURTHER WITH CONCEPTUAL
DRAWINGS AND ENGINEERING VALIDATION
C. THE WAIVER OF ANY PERMITTING FEES.
REMARKS:
Today, the Town received correspondence on the Veterans Memorial (see Attachment 5).

Re: Veterans Memorial Project
I applaud the efforts the Veterans Memorial and
Support Foundation to build a monument to our
fallen men and women of past wars. I offer them my
support hoping this project happens.
I am perplexed at the process taken in
accomplishing this. I hope that you will
bring this project to the attention the ENTIRE
community for input before you make decision.
Even the Arts Commission has not been included in
any final decision. One would think we should allow
them to weigh in for projects of this nature.
Please allow for public input regarding design and
placement of a fitting artwork that will be well
vetted prior to acceptance.

On Tuesday, November 4, you will be considering the approval of the Veterans Memorial project. As a Council
Member and Mayor, I was a strong advocate for this project, and I still am a strong advocate for it to move
forward without delay. I regret that I will be out of Town, and unable to attend the meeting personally;
however, I respectfully request a "Yes" vote on this agenda item.
