A RESOLUTION COMMENDING SUPERVISOR SIG SANCHEZ
WHEREAS, Supervisor Sig Sanchez has been a member of the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Santa Clara for fifteen years,
serving three times as its Chairman; and
WHEREAS, prior to his election to the Board in 1962, he served on the
Gilroy City Council for nine years, five years as its elected
Mayor; and
WHEREAS, Supervisor Sanchez has served as President of the County
Supervisors Association of California (CSAC) and is currently
on its Board of Directors and Executive Committee, and also
serves on the National Association of Counties (NACo) Board
of Directors; and
WHEREAS, Supervisor Sanchez has been active in providing public
transportation services in the County of Santa Clara; and,
as a Charter Member of the Local Agency Formation Commission
(LAFCO), has fathered land use policies aimed at orderly
growth, the most efficient use of resources, and preservation
of open space; and
WHEREAS, Supervisor Sanchez represents the First Supervisorial District,
including the Town of Los Gatos; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Sanchez, on January 20, 1978, announced that he would not
be a candidate for re- election and would retire at the end of
his current term;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Council of the Town of Los
Gatos does hereby commend SUPERVISOR SIG SANCHEZ for his outstanding
leadership in local government (leading to state and national recognition);
for his never - ending concern for the day -to -day problems with which cities
like Los Gatos are faced; for his genuine affection for the Town of Los
Gatos and its citizens, as evidenced by his wholehearted support and
assistance in matters pertaining to the Town; and for his selfless
dedication to his constituents in Santa Clara County's First Supervisorial
District.

AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THE 7TH DAY OF AUGUST, 1978, BY THE FOLLOWING
