1979-077-Supporting Federal Aging ProgramsRESOLUTION NO. 1979 -72 RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS SUPPORTING FEDERAL AGING PROGRAMS WHEREAS, on October 18, 1978, Congress passed a series of amendments to the Older Americans Act which were so extensive as to constitute almost a new act; and WHEREAS, the thrust of these new amendments is to mandate programs to assist our older Americans to remain in their communities; and WHEREAS, the current funding under a continuing resolution passed by Congress does not provide the necessary funds to carry out Congressional mandates. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos goes on record as favoring an adequate federal appropriation to take the place of the continuing resolution for fiscal year 1979. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that adequate funding be made available for the Older Americans Act in 1980. PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos held on the 7th day of May , 1979, by the following vote: AYES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: Ruth Cannon, Mardi Gualtieri Peter W. Siemens and Thomas J. Ferrito NOES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: None ABSENT: COUNCIL MEMBERS: John B. Lochner
