Desk Itemwx F MEETING DATE: 06/16/14 ITEM NO: 8 I 1 cos ���os DESK ITEM COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT DATE: JUNE 16, 2014 TO: MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL FROM: GREG CARSON, TOWN MANAGER ., SUBJECT: LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE PROJECT A14 -03 AUTHORIZE THE TOWN MANAGER TO EXECUTE A SERVICE AGREEMENT WITH TRUGREEN LANDCARE FOR THE PURPOSE OF LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $73,364. REMARKS: In response to a question on whether contractors were aware of the ban on leaf blowers and if the costs increased because of it, staff provides the following information: The contractors are aware of the change in permitted leaf blower use. The information was provided as part of the Request for Proposals, both in writing and as a point of emphasis during the pre -bid meeting. The recommended vendor did not add costs for the change in the leaf blowing ordinance. The reasons for this include the minimal amount of leaf blowing required in this maintenance contract and the contractor having changed their standard operations to account for increasing demand for services without leaf blowers.
