TUESDAYS EFFECTIVE AUGUST 2014
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the introduction and first reading of an Ordinance, by title only, amending Los
Gatos Town Code Section 2.20.010 changing regular Council meetings from Mondays to
Tuesdays effective August 2014.
BACKGROUND:
On December 16, 2013, the Town Council directed staff to change the Town Council
meeting dates from the first and third Mondays to the first and third Tuesdays. Los Gatos
Town Code Section 2.20.010 currently provides the following:
Sec. 2.20.010. Meetings —Time.
The regular meetings of the Town Council will be on the first and third Mondays
of each month at 7:00 p.m.
The Ordinance amendment proposed would read as follows:
Sec. 2.20.010. Meetings —Time.
The regular meetings of the Town Council will be on the first and third Meiidays
Tuesdays of each month at 7:00 p.m.

DISCUSSION:
At the December 16, 2013 Council meeting, Council discussed the advantages of
changing the meeting days from Mondays to Tuesdays. The primary reason Council
identified for changing the meeting days to Tuesdays was that an additional day would be
available for the public and Council to review the agenda packets and provide questions
and comments.
The motion to approve the change of meetings days indicated that this change should
occur in January 2015. Since the approval of the change, staff has discussed with the
Mayor the possibility of beginning the meeting day change with the first meeting of FY
2014/15, which would be August 4, 2014. The Council typically adopts the Council
meeting schedule for the coming fiscal year in June of each year. Beginning the Tuesday
meetings in August would provide consistency in the fiscal year meeting schedule.
Council agenda packets will continue to be released on the Thursday prior to the Tuesday
meetings. Special meetings will continue to be scheduled on any day the Council is available, as
needed.
CONCLUSION:
Staff recommends Council review and move for introduction and first reading of the
attached Ordinance by number and title only.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT:
The action is not a project defined under CEQA and no further action is required.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The adoption of this agreement results in no fiscal impact

ORDINANCE
ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
AMENDING THE CODE OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS SECTION 2.20.010
REGARDING COUNCIL MEETINGS TIME AND DATE
THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, Section 2.20.010 of the Los Gatos Town Code sets forth the time and date of
the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the Town desires to amend the Town Council meeting dates to the first and
second Tuesdays of each month; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Los Gatos needs to amend Section 2.20.010 in order to make
this change; and
WHEREAS, following the Public Hearing, and upon consideration of the testimony of all
persons, the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos does ordain Section 2.20.010 to be
amended.
SECTION I
Town Code Section 2.20.010 is amended to read as follows:
Sec. 2.20.010. Meetings —Time.
The regular meetings of the Town Council will be on the first and third Tuesdays
of each month at 7:00 p.m.; however, when the day fixed for any regular meeting
of the Town Council falls upon a day designated by law as a legal or national
holiday, the meeting will be held on the next succeeding day not a holiday. The
Town Council may cancel a regular meeting by a vote of a majority of the Council.
The Town Council may establish additional regular meetings by adopting a
calendar of scheduled meetings at least thirty (30) days prior to such meetings. A
current, adopted calendar of Council meetings shall be posted in the office of the
Town Clerk.
SECTION II
This Ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Los
Gatos on , and adopted by the following vote as an ordinance of the Town of Los Gatos at a
meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos on _. This ordinance takes effect 30
days after it is adopted.
