SUBJECT: PPW JOB NO. 13 -22 — HILLSIDE ROAD REPAIR AND RESURFACING

AUTHORIZE THE TOWN MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CERTIFICATE OF
ACCEPTANCE AND NOTICE OF COMPLETION ACCEPTING THE WORK
OF S. MILLER PAVING AND AUTHORIZE RECORDING BY THE CLERK
ADMINISTRATOR.
RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize the Town Manager to execute a Certificate of Acceptance and Notice of Completion
accepting the work of S. Miller Paving and authorize recording by the Clerk Administrator.
BACKGROUND:
The Town's adopted five year Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Budget designates funding
for infrastructure repair and replacement projects. The project design included base repairs and
asphalt patching on the upper part of Kennedy Road.
DISCUSSION:
On August 5, 2013, the Town Council awarded the contract to S. Miller Paving. The total
approved contract amount for this project was $138,700. The contractor has satisfactorily
completed the project and PPW recommends acceptance.
Ten percent of the faithful perfonnance bond will remain in effect for a period of two years as
guarantee for any needed repair and/or replacement caused by defective materials and
workmanship.
The execution and recordation of the Certificate of Acceptance is now required to finalize the
Town's acceptance of the project.

CONCLUSION:
Staff recommends that the Town Council authorize the Town Manager to execute a Certificate of
Acceptance and Notice of Completion accepting the work of S. Miller Paving and authorize
recording by the Clerk Administrator.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT:
This is a project as defined under CEQA but is Categorically Exempt (Section 15301 c). A Notice
of Exemption will not be filed.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The project was completed within budget, as demonstrated in the fiscal table below. Grant funds
remaining in this project will be used for hillside improvements on Shannon Road.
