SUBJECT: INTERVIEWS AND APPOINTMENTS TO BOARDS, COMMISSIONS, AND
COMMITTEES
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Conduct an interview and appointment process for the following: Arts and Culture Commission,
Housing Element Advisory Board, and Transportation and Parking Commission.
DISCUSSION:
On March 17, 2014, Council will interview applicants for vacant board, commission, and
committee positions. Attached is a list of the advisory bodies, the number of vacancies, and the
applicants' names. One candidate for the Housing Element Advisory Board submitted his
application after the due date; however, staff is including his application for Council
consideration at its discretion. The proposed schedule allows three minutes per applicant. The
schedule is for planning purposes, and more or less time can be taken, as needed.
Following the interviews, Council may appoint applicants to the vacant positions at the regular
meeting.
The next scheduled recruitment is set for August 2014 with interviews to be held in early
November 2014. Recruitment for student members is scheduled beginning April 2014 with
appointments in June 2014.
CONCLUSION:
It is recommended that Council interview and appoint applicants to fill vacant Town board,
commission, and committee positions.
