RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS AFFIRMING
AND ESTABLISHING REQUIREMENTS FOR RESIDENCY
IN TOWN FOR SPECIFIED BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS:
WHEREAS, Chapter 2 of the Town Code allows the Council to establish residency
requirements for Town boards and commissions; and
WHEREAS, membership on certain boards and commissions should require residency,
while others involving business and property ownership need not require legal residency and others
involve input from residents of adjacent municipalities; and
WHEREAS, it is important to establish the requirements for all boards and commissions in
a coherent and comprehensive manner,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
1. Residency in Town is required for appointment and continued membership on the
following boards and commissions:
Arts Commission
Board of Appeals
Community Services Commission
Conceptual Development Advisory Committee
General Plan Committee
Historic Preservation Committee
Library Board
Planning Commission
Sister City Committee
2. As required by Sections 19.20.015 and 2.30.935 of the Town Code, residency in Town
is required for appointment and continued membership on the following boards and commissions:
Park Commission
Personnel Board
3. Residency in Town is required for appointment and continued membership on the Trails
and Bikeways Committee, except that one of the members of the Committee may be a resident of
the City of Monte Sereno.
4. Residency in Town is not required for the following boards and commissions:
Business Improvement District Board
Development Review Committee
Newsrack Committee
Parking Commission
5. Residency in Town is required to be either a tenant representative or the neutral member
on the Rent Advisory Committee. Residency in Town is not required to be a property owner
representative on the Rent Advisory Committee.
6. Any conflicting provision contained in any other resolution or formal action of the
Council, other than an ordinance, is hereby repealed.
7. This resolution shall become effective upon the effective date of Ordinance No. 1997 that
was adopted at the same meeting at which the resolution was adopted.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Los
Gatos, California, held on the 17th day of April, 1995 by the following vote.
