RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize the Town Manager to execute a Certificate of Acceptance and Notice of Completion
accepting the work of Gradetech, Inc. and authorize recording by the Clerk Administrator.
BACKGROUND:
The Town's adopted FY 2011/12 — 2015/16 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Budget
designated grant funds for roadway improvements on Blossom Hill Road through the Caltrans
Safe Route to School Program (SR2S). This project is consistent with the Town's goals to
improve quality and safety of roadway infrastructure in Los Gatos.
This project was designed to construct a curb, gutter, and sidewalk on the north side of Blossom
Hill Road, from Cherry Blossom Lane to Camino Del Cerro, in areas where no infrastructure
existed; and to construct a curb, gutter, and sidewalk on the south side of Blossom Hill Road,
from Blossom Hill School to Atwood Way. .
A lighted pedestrian crosswalk system was installed at the intersection of Blossom Hill Road and
Hillbrook Drive to provide a safer and more functional crossing on the north side of Blossom
Hill Road. In addition to the above mentioned improvements, four electronic radar message signs
were installed in this section of Blossom Hill Road to address motorist and pedestrian safety
concerns.

SUBJECT: PPW JOB NO. 10 -05 — BLOSSOM HILL ROAD IMPROVEMENTS ,(CHERRY
BLOSSOM LANE TO CAMINO DEL CERRO) 812 -0111
DISCUSSION:
On December 19, 2011, the Town Council authorized a contract with Gradetech, Inc. to perform
the improvements on Blossom Hill Road. The electronic radar signs that were installed have
been effective in reducing speeds and increasing the awareness of motorists. The finished project
has provided a much more functional infrastructure for vehicles, bicyclists, and pedestrians and
has been well received by the local residents, nearby schools and community.
The contracted work has been satisfactorily completed by Gradetech, Inc. and is being
recommended for acceptance by the Parks and Public Works Department. Ten percent of the
faithful performance bond will remain in effect for a'period of two years to guarantee any needed
repair and /or replacement caused by defective materials and workmanship. The execution and
recordation of the Certificate of Acceptance is now required to finalize the Town's acceptance of
the project.
CONCLUSION:
Staff recommends that the Town Council authorize the Town Manager to execute a Certificate of
Acceptance and Notice of Completion accepting the work of Gradetech, Inc. and authorize
recording by the Clerk Administrator.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT:
This is a project as defined under CEQA but is Categorically Exempt (Section 15301c). A Notice
of Exemption will not be filed.
