SUBJECT: APPOINTMENTS TO BOARDS, COMMISSIONS, AND COMMITTEES
RECOMMENDATION:
Conduct an appointment process for the following: Community and Senior Services
Commission, Library Board, Personnel Board, and for an anticipated Planning Commission
vacancy.
DISCUSSION:
On December 10, 2012, Council will interview applicants for vacant board, commission, and
committee positions. Attached is a list of the advisory bodies, the number of vacancies, and the
applicants' names. The proposed schedule allows five minutes per applicant. The schedule is for
planning purposes, and more time can be taken with the Planning Commission applicants, if
needed. Following the interviews, Council may appoint applicants to the vacant positions. Upon
completion of the appointment process, Council may direct the Clerk Administrator to re-
advertise any vacant commission positions.
Dr. Eric Pifer applied for the Community and Senior Services Commission. He is the Chief
Medical Officer for El Camino Hospital. Because he is a Mountain View resident, he cannot
serve in an official capacity on the Community and Senior Services Commission. However, his
application is forwarded to you for possible appointment as an ex- officio member and/or for
referral to the Community and Senior Services Commission for further action.

CONCLUSION:
It is recommended that Council appoint applicants to fill vacant Town board, commission, and
committee positions and direct the Clerk Administrator to re- advertise any unfilled positions.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with the recommended action.
