SUBJECT: PPW JOB NO. 10 -04 — WEDGEWOOD AVENUE IMPROVEMENTS
(MULBERRY DRIVE TO GRANADA WAY) 471- 812 -0112
AUTHORIZE THE TOWN MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CERTIFICATE OF
ACCEPTANCE AND NOTICE OF COMPLETION ACCEPTING THE WORK
OF DURAN & VENABLES INC. AND AUTHORIZE RECORDING BY THE
CLERK ADMINISTRATOR.
RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize the Town Manager to execute a Certificate of Acceptance and Notice of Completion
accepting the work of Duran & Venables Inc. and authorize recording by the Cleric
Administrator.
BACKGROUND:
The Town's adopted FY 2011/12 - 2015/16 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Budget
designates funding for infrastructure repair and replacement projects and is consistent with the
Town's goals to improve public safety and to improve the quality of Town streets.
DISCUSSION:
A new storm drain system was -constructed along the south side of Wedgewood Avenue, along
with new sidewalks, to connect the existing sidewalks at Mulberry Drive to Granada Way. The
newly installed sidewalk design is identical to the existing walkways to preserve the look and
feel of the surroundings. New trees were also planted in the planter areas between the sidewalk
and curb to enhance the aesthetic look of this neighborhood.
On October 17, 2011, the Town Council awarded the contract to Duran & Venables Inc, The
contracted work has been satisfactorily completed by Duran & Venables Inc. and is being
recommended for acceptance by the Parks and Public Works Department.

DISCUSSION (cont'd.):
Ten percent of the faithful performance bond will remain in effect for a period of two years to
guarantee any needed repair and /or replacement caused by defective materials and workmanship.
The execution and recordation of the Certificate of Acceptance is now required to finalize the
Town's acceptance of the project.
CONCLUSION:
Staff recommends that the Town Council authorize the Town Manager to execute a Certificate of
Acceptance and Notice of Completion accepting the work of Duran & Venables Inc. and
authorize recording by the Clerk Administrator.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT:
This is a project as defined under CEQA but is Categorically Exempt (Section 15301c). A Notice
of Exemption will not be filed.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This project was completed within the Council approved budget, as demonstrated by the fiscal
table below.
