RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
TO AUTHORIZE THE TOWN MANAGER TO EXECUTE AGREEMENT
WITH DOWNTOWN FORD SALES FOR PURCHASE OF
TWELVE (12) 1999 FORD LTD CROWN VICTORIA
POLICE SEDANS FOR THE TOTAL PRICE OF $329,520
WHEREAS, in May 1990 Council adopted Resolution #1990 -89 authorizing Office
of Procurement, Department of General Services of the State of California to purchase materials,
supplies and equipment on behalf of the Town of Los Gatos pursuant to Town Code
§ 2.50.130(b)(2); and,
WHEREAS, program objective is to reduce cost of commodities through volume
purchasing; and,
WHEREAS, the replacement of Police Department patrol vehicles is due in
accordance with the Town's Equipment Replacement Policy; and,
WHEREAS, the cut -off for ordering 1999 model cars has passed, but there are some
vehicles yet available under the 1999 contract; and,
WHEREAS, waiting for year 2000 models will result in an additional expense of
approximately $1,000 per unit and a significant delay in the replacement of the present fleet;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of
Los Gatos, County of Santa Clara, State of California, that the Town Manager is authorized to
execute agreement with Downtown Ford Sales, pursuant to the contract with Office of
Procurement, Department of General Services of the State of California to purchase materials,
supplies and equipment for and on behalf of the Town of Los Gatos pursuant to § 10324 of the
Public Contract Code.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos,
California, held on the 5th day of April, 1999 by the following vote:
