PROJECT

PARK ADA UPGRADES PROJECT AND AUTHORIZE STAFF TO
ADVERTISE THE PROJECT FOR BID.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve plans and specifications for construction for the Live Oak Manor Park ADA Upgrades
Project and authorize staff to advertise the project for bid.
BACKGROUND
The adopted FY 2012/13 — 2016/17 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Budget designates
funds for improving the condition of Town parks and facilities and is consistent with the Town's
goals to improve the quality of public infrastructure in Los Gatos.
The Town has undertaken a wide range of projects over the past few years to improve the
condition and quality of Town Parks. These improvements include, playground renovations, turf
and irrigation system replacement, picnic area renovations, lighting, and associated site
improvements.
DISCUSSION
Live Oak Manor Park is one of the larger neighborhood parks in Los Gatos and is heavily used
by the community. This park has frontage roads on Lester Lane and Carlton Avenue with a
gravel pathway between the streets. This pathway currently is not ADA accessible and creates
hardship for disabled individuals who want to use it. In addition to the pathway, the lighting
system at this park has been in need of repair and replacement, due to its age and deferred
maintenance.

PROJECT
DISCUSSION (cont'd)
The proposed project will improve Live Oak Manor Park by grading and paving this pathway
with asphalt, replacing park lights and electrical conduits, and reconstructing and paving the
basketball court. These improvements were discussed with residents from the adjacent
neighborhood during a Parks Commission meeting that was held on site on October 4, 2011.
The residents were all in favor of moving forward with the proposed improvements and the
Commission recommended that staff proceed in that direction.
Plans and Specifications for this project are complete and will be available for review in the
Clerk's Department on the Friday before the Town Council meeting.
CONCLUSION
It is recommended that the Town Council approve plans and specifications for the Live Oak
Manor Park ADA Upgrades Project and authorize staff to advertise the project for bids.
