PROJECT AND AUTHORIZE STAFF TO ADVERTISE THE PROJECT FOR
BID.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve plans and specifications for construction for the University Avenue Resurfacing

BACKGROUND
The adopted FY 2011/12 Capital Improvement Program designates grant funds for resurfacing
and improvements for University Avenue through the Caltrans Surface Transportation
Improvement Program (STIP) and is consistent with the Town's goals to improve quality of
roadway infrastructure in Los Gatos.
Over the past few years, the Town has performed street improvements and resurfacing on
University Avenue beginning with the downtown area. The north section of University Avenue,
from Shelburne Way to Vasona Dam, is the remaining section of this street to receive the
improvements and resurfacing.
DISCUSSION
The proposed improvements to University Avenue, from Shelburne Way to Vasona Dam,
include repairing failed roadway base sections, replacing non - standard storm drain catch basins,
construction of a new curb, gutter, retaining wall, and sidewalk near Pepper Tree Lane, and
resurfacing and striping. 7)
