ARC RoofingCOUNCIL AGENDA REPORT os'G DATE: APRIL 24, 2012 MEETING DATE: 05/07/12 ITEM NO: TO: MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL FROM: GREG LARSON, TOWN MANAGER SUBJECT: PPW JOB NO. 11 -13 LOS GATOS ADULT RECREATION CENTER ROOFING PROJECT 411- 821 -2202 AUTHORIZE THE TOWN MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CERTIFICATE OF ACCEPTANCE AND NOTICE OF COMPLETION ACCEPTING THE WORK OF WATERPROOFING ASSOCIATES AND AUTHORIZE RECORDING BY THE CLERK ADMINISTRATOR. RECOMMENDATION Authorize the Town Manager to execute a Certificate of Acceptance and Notice of Completion accepting the work of Waterproofing Associates and authorize recording by the Clerk Administrator. BACKGROUND The Town's adopted FY 2011/12 - 2015/16 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Budget designates funding for various infrastructure repair and replacement projects. This is consistent with the Town's goal to improve the quality of the Town's facilities. The replacement of the Los Gatos Adult Recreation Center roof was identified as one of the CIP projects. DISCUSSION At its regular meeting held January 17, 2012, the Town Council authorized a contract be awarded to Waterproofing Associates for the repair and re- surfacing of the Adult Recreation Center roof. The scope of this project included the removal and replacement of two designated roof sections and resurfacing of the balance of the roof area. The contracted work has been satisfactorily completed by Waterproofing Associates and is being recommended for acceptance by the Parks and Public Works Department. The execution and recordation of the Certificate of Acceptance is now required to finalize the Town's acceptance of the project. CONCLUSION Staff recommends that the Town Council authorize the Town Manager to execute a Certificate of Acceptance and Notice of Completion accepting the work of Waterproofing Associates and authorize recording by the Clerk Administrator. ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT This is a project as defined under CEQA but is Categorically Exempt (Section 15301c). A Notice of Exemption will not be filed. FISCAL IMPACT The construction contract was awarded for $66,888 with a contingency budget of $5,000, bringing the authorized project budget to $71,888. This project was completed within the Council approved budget, as demonstrated by the fiscal table below.
