SUBJECT: PPW JOB NO. 10 -08 — FY 2010/11 CURB GUTTER AND SIDEWALK
REPLACEMENT PROJECT 411 - 813 -9921
AUTHORIZE THE TOWN MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CERTIFICATE OF
ACCEPTANCE AND NOTICE OF COMPLETION ACCEPTING THE WORK
OF NOR -CAL CONCRETE COMPANY AND AUTHORIZE RECORDING BY
THE CLERK ADMINISTRATOR.
RECOMMENDATION
Authorize the Town Manager to execute a Certificate of Acceptance and Notice of Completion
accepting the work of Nor -Cal Concrete Company and authorize recording by the Clerk
Administrator.
BACKGROUND
The adopted FY 2010/11 - 2014/15 Capital Improvement (CIP) Program Budget designates
funding for replacing damaged concrete curb, gutter and sidewalks. The goal of is this project is
to improve public safety.
DISCUSSION
This project replaced damaged and broken curbs, gutters, and sidewalks at various locations
throughout the Town. These improvements were necessary to enhance public safety and
minimize trip and fall accidents by pedestrians.
At its regular meeting held June 6, 2011, the Town Council authorized a construction contract be
awarded to Nor -Cal Concrete Company for this project. The contracted work was completed by
Nor -Cal Concrete Company and accepted by the Parks and Public Works Department.

DISCUSSION (cont'd.):
Ten percent of the faithful performance bond will remain in effect for a period of two years to
guarantee any needed repair and /or replacement caused by defective materials and workmanship.
The execution and recordation of the Certificate of Acceptance is now required to finalize the
Town's acceptance of the project. Staff recommends that the Certificate of Acceptance and
Notice of Completion be executed and recorded.
CONCLUSION
Staff recommends that the Town Council authorize the Town Manager to execute a Certificate of
Acceptance and Notice of Completion accepting the work of Nor -Cal Concrete Company and
authorize recording by the Clerk Administrator.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT
This is a project as defined under CEQA but is Categorically Exempt (Section 15301 c). A Notice
of Exemption will not be filed.
FISCAL IMPACT
This project was completed within the Council approved budget, as demonstrated by the fiscal
table below.
