APPROVE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE
LOS GATOS CREEKSIDE SPORTS PARK AND AUTHORIZE STAFF TO
ADVERTISE THE PROJECT FOR BID
RECOMMENDATION
Approve plans and specifications for construction of the Los Gatos Creekside Sports Park and
authorize staff to advertise the project for bid.
BACKGROUND
On August 24, 2011, the Planning Commission reviewed the project and subsequently approved
the Conditional Use Permit, Architecture and Site Application, and adopted the Mitigated
Negative Declaration and Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program. On October 3, 2011,
the Town Council approved the Master Plan for the Creekside Sports Park. The proposed sports
park includes a 180 ft. x 300 ft. field that can be used for soccer, lacrosse, football, or other field
sports. A restroom and concession building will be located at the south end of the park, along
with a small picnic area and tot play area. The community input process was utilized to identify
desired features for the sports park and provide feedback on proposed conceptual designs. In
addition to community meetings, staff obtained input through letters, emails and telephone
correspondences. This input, combined with feedback from the design consultants, external
stakeholders and staff, was used to finalize the plans and specifications for the sports park.
DISCUSSION
Plans and specifications for this project are complete and are available for review in the Town
Clerk Department on the Friday before the Council meeting.

The cost estimate prepared by the architect includes all of the costs to be included in the base
bid. If the Town Council approves these plans and specifications, it will be advertised for bid,
and a construction contract will be presented to Council for award on March 19, 2012.
Depending upon weather conditions, staff anticipates that construction of this project would
begin in April 2012.
CONCLUSION
It is recommended that the Town Council approve plans and specifications for the Los Gatos
Creekside Sports Park and authorize staff to advertise the project for bids.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT
A Mitigated Negative Declaration was prepared and approved for this project.
FISCAL IMPACT
There are sufficient funds available for this project through the approved FY 2010/11 - 2014/15
Capital Improvement Program Budget.
