BACKGROUND The adopted FY 2010/11 - 2014/2015 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Budget designates funding for infrastructure, replacement and community enhancement projects. This project is consistent with the Town's goals to improve public safety and enhance the quality of the community. In September 2009, the Town purchased the property located at 930 University Avenue, which was the former home of a Verizon Corporation Yard. This site, located immediately north of Vasona Lake County Park and adjacent to Los Gatos Creek, has been designated by the Town Council as the site for the new Los Gatos Creekside Sports Park. In June 2010, the Town Council adopted Guiding Principles to be used in the master planning of this new facility. As part of these guiding principles, the Town Council determined that all existing facilities at that property would be demolished as part of the site development. DISCUSSION At its regular meeting held September 6, 2011, the Town Council authorized a contract be awarded to Joseph J. Albanese Inc. for the demolition of buildings at the 930 University site.
