ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
CONCERNING APPOINTMENT AND QUALIFICATIONS
OF PARK COMMISSION MEMBERS
THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS ORDAINS AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
Section 2 -29 of the Town Code of the Town of Los Gatos is
amended to read:
SEC. 2 -29. APPOINTMENT, TERMS OF OFFICE AND COMPENSATION
OF MEMBERS
The Park Commission shall consist of nine members,
all of whom shall reside within the Town, and shall be
appointed by the Town Council. The members shall serve
without compensation, but all necessary expenses incurred
by them while acting in their official capacities shall
be paid by appropriate action of the Town Council.
Two members of the Commission shall, at the time of
their appointment have completed the ninth grade, shall
be students enrolled in an accredited school and shall
be no more than eighteen years old.
The Commission shall by resolution, adopt a procedure
regulating the recruitment of applicants for the positions
an
and the method by which it will choose those candidates
recommended for appointment. The terms of office of the
student members shall be one year, commencing February 1
and ending January 31; provided, that the first terms of
office shall commence June 1, 1969 and end January 31,
1970.
The terms of office of all other members of the
Commission shall be four years and until their successors
are appointed and qualify; provided, that the terms of
the first members shall end as follows: One shall end in
1966; two shall end in 1967; two shall end in 1968; and
two shall end in 1969. Lots shall be drawn to determine
which of the first members shall fill which initial terms.
SECTION 2.
This ordinance shall take effect and shall be in force
thirty (30) days after the date of its adoption. The Town Clerk
of the Town of Los Gatos shall cause this ordinance to be published
once within fifteen (15) days after its adoption, in the Los Gatos
Times - Saratoga Observer, a newspaper of general circulation,
published and circulated in the Town of Los Gatos.
The above and foregoing ordinance was duly and regularly
introduced at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town
of Los Gatos held on the 6th day of October , 1975.
