URGENCY ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN
OF LOS GATOS RESTRICTING THE
CONSTRUCTION AND LIGHTING OF TENNIS
COURTS
THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS DOES ORDAIN:
SECTION 1.
Purpose.
The Zoning Ordinance of the Town does not now regulate the
location of tennis courts except in required front yards. Nor
does the Zoning Ordinance regulate the lighting of tennis courts.
As results of these facts tennis courts can be constructed in side
yards of corner lots where their fences can obstruct the view from
vehicles approaching intersections, and tennis court lighting can
be installed in locations that will annoy the occupants of neighboring
property. These matters are under study by the Planning Commission,
and ought to be subjected to interim regulation.
SECTION 2.
Tennis courts shall not be constructed in a required side yard
bordering a street.
SECTION 3.
Lighting for tennis courts shall not be installed without a
Conditional Use Permit.
SECTION 4.
This ordinance is an urgency ordinance and is for the protection
of the public safety, health and welfare. This ordinance takes
effect immediately and, in accordance with Government Code section

65858, is of no further effect four months from its date of
adoption, except as it may be extended. The Town Clerk of the
Town of Los Gatos shall cause this ordinance to be published once
within 15 days after its adoption, in the Los Gatos Times - Saratoga
Observer, a newspaper of general circulation, published and circulated
in the Town of Los Gatos.
ADOPTED as an ordinance of the Town of Los Gatos, California,
at a regular meeting of the Town Council, held on _July 19 ®,
1976, by the following vote:
