ORDINANCE AMENDING THE LOS GATOS TOWN
CODE MODIFYING THE PLANNING DIRECTOR'S
DUTIES
THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS DOES ORDAIN:
SECTION 1.
The title of Article III of the Town Code is amended to
read:
ARTICLE III. PLANNING COMMISSION; DIRECTOR OF PLANNING.
SECTION 2.
Section 2 -24 of Chapter 2 of Article III of the Town Code is
repealed.
SECTION 3.
Section 2 -26 of Article III, Chapter 2 of the Town Code is
amended to read:
SEC. 2 -26 SAME -- POWERS AND DUTIES
The director of planning:
(a) Is in charge of administering the planning affairs
of the town.
(b) Directs and controls the planning department, subject
to the general administrative direction of the town
manager.
(c) Serves as secretary, chief administrator and technical
advisor to the planning commission.
(d) Assists in preparing plans and ordinances.
(e) Collects and analyzes planning data and reports and
makes recommendations for the regular review of the
general plan, precise plans and revisions to such
plans.
(f) Reviews and makes suggestions concerning the physical
development of the town, such as zoning, subdivision,
building, traffic, land use and population growth.
(g) Keeps all maps, ordinances, rules and regulations
current.
(h) Personally, or by his representative, attends all
meetings of the town council, and planning commission.
(i) Serves as directed to represent the commission and
town at other meetings and other functions.
(j) Promotes public understanding of the general plan and
precise plans, and of the purpose and objectives of
planning, zoning and related programs.
(k) Is responsible for enforcement of zoning ordinances
and regulations.
(1) Performs such other planning duties as are assigned
by the town manager and town planning commission or
as are prescribed by ordinance or state law.
SECTION 4.
This ordinance takes effect 30 days after the date it is adopted.
Within 15 days after this ordinance is adopted the Town Clerk shall
cause it to be published once in a newspaper of general circulation
published and circulated in the Town.
This ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of the Town

Council of the Town of Los Gatos on November 7 1977, and
adopted by the following vote as an ordinance of the Town of Los
Gatos at a regular meeting of the Town Council on November 21 ,
1977.
