MINUTES OF THE TOWN COUNCIL /COMMISSION FORUM
NOVEMBER 28, 2011 — 6:00 P.M.

The Town Council held a Special Joint Meeting for a Study Session with the Arts and
Culture Commission/ Building Board of Appeals /Community & Senior Services
Commission /General Plan Committee /Historic Preservation Committee /Library Board/
Parks Commission /Personnel Board /Planning Comm ission/Transportation & Parking
CommissionNouth Commission /North 40 Specific Plan Advisory Committee
MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AT 6:00 P.M.
ROLL CALL
Present: Mayor Steve Rice, Vice Mayor Barbara Spector, Council Member Steven
Leonardis, Council Member Diane McNutt, and Council Member Joe Pirzynski.
Absent: None.
Present: Marico Sayoc, Planning Commission Chair; Tom Dodge, Building Board of
Appeals; Sue Gomez, Chair Community and Senior Services Commission; Charles
Erekson, Historic Preservation Committee Chair; Thomas Atkinson, Library Board
Chair; Brant Corenson, Parks Commission Chair
Mayor Rice invited all participants to provide self- introductions.
VERBAL COMMUNICATIONS (Three- minute time limit)
There were no verbal communications.
Council held discussions with Town Commission and Board Representatives on the
following items:
Budget Presentation and Discussion
Greg Larson, Town Manager introduced the budget discussion and staff.
Steve Conway, Finance Director, presented information about the Town's
budget, revenue sources, General Fund expenses, and reserves.

Jenny Haruyama, Assistant Finance Director /Budget Manager, presented
information about the Town's past budget strategies, the projection for FY
2012/13, and budget planning for next fiscal year.
Commission chairs and members asked questions regarding the Town's budget.
Commissioner Handbook Review with Focus on Roles and Responsibilities, and
Effective Meetings
• Mr. Larson provided highlights from the Commissioner Handbook.
• Mayor Rice announced upcoming training available through Leadership Los
Gatos and upcoming opportunities to participate in the Town's Jubilee Year /125
Anniversary celebrations.
• Commission chairs and members provided comments regarding commissioner
roles and their interest in hearing about issues before other commissions and
about how commissioners can perform additional volunteer work while serving as
members of commissions.
• Mayor Rice announced there will be meetings set with the new commission
chairs after the first of the new year.
