SUBJECT: APPOINTMENTS TO BOARDS, COMMISSIONS, AND COMMITTEES
RECOMMENDATION:
Conduct appointment process for: Architectural Standards Committee, Arts and Culture
Commission, Building Board of Appeals, Community Services Commission, General Plan
Committee, Library Board, Parks Commission, Personnel Board, Planning Commission,
Rent Advisory Committee, and Transportation and Parking Commission.
2. Direct Clerk Administrator to re-advertise any vacant positions following the appointments
on November 2, 2009.
DISCUSSION:
On October 26, 2009, Council interviewed applicants for vacant board, commission, and
committee positions (Attachment 1). Of particular note, Council requested that applicant Mr. Ed
Dee, who applied for several vacant commission positions; consider submitting a Parks
Commission and/or Transportation and Parking Commission application given his background
and interests with bicycles and the trails. The Parks Commission currently has a vacant
appointment to the bicycle advisory Committee. Subsequent to the Council Board, Commission
and Committee interviews, Mr. Dee submitted the attached Parks Commission application for
Council's consideration (Attachment 2).
Upon completion of the appointment process, Council may direct the Clerk Administrator to re-
advertise any vacant board, commission, and/or committee positions.

CONCLUSION:
It is recommended that Council appoint applicants to fill vacant Town board, commission, and
committee positions, and direct Clerk Administrator to re-advertise any fulfilled positions.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with the recommended action.
