ADOPT RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT
AMONG THE SILICON VALLEY ANIMAL CONTROL AUTHORITY
AND ITS MEMBER CITIES REGARDING
PURCHASE OF THOMAS ROAD PROPERTY
WHEREAS, OnAugust 7, 2000, the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos
entered into a .Joint Powers Agreement with the Cities of Sunnyvale, :Santa Clara,
Cupertino, Saratoga, Campbell and Monte Sereno for the purposes of providing animal
control services to those communities; and,
WHEREAS, the'Town and the cities of Sunnyvale, Cupertino, and Saratoga
has or will be withdrawing from the .Joint Powers Agreement. effective June 30, 2004;
and,
WHEREAS, the~Town Council, on January 5, 2004, voted to proceed with
the City of San Jose for animal control services; and
WHEREAS, the Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority has requested that
the Town enter into an agreement that allows the remaining three cities in the JPA
(Campbell, Santa Clara and Monte Sereno), to purchase property in Santa Clara for the
animal shelter; and,
WHEREAS, this agreement will ensure that no funds from the withdrawing
cities will be used for this purchase, and .also releases the withdrawing cities from any
right, title or interest in the property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Town Council of the Town
of Los Gatos, County of Santa Clara, State of California, to approve this- agreement
among the Silicon Valley Animal Authority and its member cities..

Town of Los Gatos, California, held on the 5`h of April, 2004 by the following vote:
