RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
SUPPORTING SANTA CLARA VALLEY TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY {VTA)
PLACEMENT ON THE NOVEMBER 7, .2000, STATEWIDE BALLOT,
A MEASURE AUTHORIZING VTA TO ENACT AONE-HALF CENT
:SALES TAX FOR TRANSIT PURPOSES FOR A PERIOD OF 30 YEARS
WHEREAS, the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) has voted to place on the
November 7, 2000, statewide ballot, a measure authorizing VTA to enact aone-half cent sales tax for transit
purposes for a period of 30 years;
WHEREAS, this measure will authorize VTA to:
- connect BART ~to Milpitas, San Jose, Santa Clara _
- build rail connection from Sail Jose Airport to BART, Caltrain, 1ig11t rail
- purchase vehicles for disabled access, senior safety, clean air buses
- provide light rail throughout Santa Clara County
- expand, electrify Caltrain;
- increase .rail, bus service
RESOLVED, thatthe Town ofLos Gatos Town Cotuicilsupports VTA's goal to provide these
additional services to the residents of Santa Clara County.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of tlae Town of Los
Gatos, California, held on the 18"' day of September, 2000 by the following vote:
